Codes are organised to match, so your competition has its own clubs, grades and calendar.
League runs through district and regional bodies rather than one statewide ladder: Far North Queensland Rugby League, Rugby League Townsville & Districts, Rugby League Mackay & Districts, Rockhampton District Rugby League and Mount Isa Rugby League. Townsville's nine clubs contest four senior men's grades plus a senior women's grade from April until August. Rockhampton runs 10 teams through senior, junior and women's competitions in Queensland Rugby League's Central Division, and the Far North competition carries eight.
AFL Queensland governs 130 clubs across ten competitions, with junior grades in every regional area. Twenty-nine of those clubs sit in the leagues covering Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Darling Downs, and the boundaries matter: AFL Capricornia is played across Rockhampton, Gladstone and Yeppoon between March and September, while AFL Darling Downs is based around Toowoomba, one climate zone inland.
Netball Queensland affiliates more than 350 clubs beneath its member associations, so a netball order often arrives from an association buying for grades that would otherwise order separately. Football Queensland splits the community game into nine regions in three conferences, from Metro and South Coast in the south east through Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Central Coast to Whitsunday Coast, Northern, and Far North and Gulf.
